Prateek Jain: The Inspirational Journey of a Young Achiever

In the challenging realm of UPSC examinations, where countless aspirants endeavor to make their mark, a few exceptional individuals manage to stand out. Prateek Jain, an ex-Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer, exemplifies this distinction by achieving the rank of IAS in the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination at the tender age of 25.

Prateek Jain is a shining star in the realm of civil services. He is a part of the 2018 batch of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of Chief Development Officer (CDO) in Haridwar district, Uttarakhand. Prateek’s journey to this remarkable achievement was marked by dedication, resilience, and unwavering determination.

A Glimpse into Prateek’s Journey

First Attempt:

In 2016, Prateek Jain embarked on his first endeavor to crack the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Although he successfully cleared the prelims and mains, he narrowly missed securing a place in the final list of IAS officers. However, his spirit remained unbroken as he went on to excel in the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) examination in the same year, securing a remarkable 3rd rank.

Second Attempt:

Prateek’s unwavering commitment to his goals led him to take a second shot at the UPSC CSE in 2017. This time, he triumphed, achieving an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 86. His remarkable achievement was even more striking considering his age – he conquered the exam at just 25 years old. Prior to this, Prateek had gained valuable experience by serving in the Indian Forest Service for a year. He is an alumnus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, where he pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering B.E. (Hons.) and MSc (Hons.) Biological Sciences from 2011 to 2016. Furthermore, he obtained a Master’s in Public Management from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in 2020.

Before assuming the pivotal role of CDO in Haridwar, Prateek Jain served as the Deputy Collector of the district from December 2019 to August 2020. He also played a significant role as Deputy Collector and SDM in Nainital district for nearly two years.

Prateek Jain’s remarkable journey is a testament to his unwavering determination, academic excellence, and commitment to public service. His story serves as an inspiration for aspirants in the field of civil services, showing that with perseverance and dedication, extraordinary heights can be reached at a young age.
