Tamana Chona – The woman who fought Cerebral Palsy and Spasticity Tamana

Tamana Chona teaches us how to overcome all challenges even in mental imbalance-

The word “tamana” means “inner desire” or “desire”. The name was given to a girl who was born with cerebral palsy and a spascity disorder and was found partially blind due to her nystagmus and corneal clouding. Her mother founded the Society. Today, she is an optimistic, confident, cheerful and confident young woman who enjoys dancing, playing tennis, watching the latest movies, learning Spanish and practising yoga. Captivating audiences with impromptu speeches representing people with disabilities with teenage energy. Thanks to the love and support of her family, who worked diligently to ensure Tamana got the most out of her training and therapeutic interventions, she started walking and speaking at the age of nine. Since then there has been no turning back. Ms. Tamana studied with her friends at her DPS RK Her Plum and she graduated her 12th grade from the National Open School, majoring in Travel and Tourism at the South Delhi Women’s Institute of Technology. She trained as an elementary school teacher and has been teaching at DPS Children’s School since 2000. In 2015, she received the National Disability Empowerment Award from the Government of India for her hard work and dedication. 

She is a teacher, She was appointed as Sargent Shriver’s World International Ambassador for the 2003-2004 Asia Pacific Olympics, becoming India’s first disabled person to hold the coveted post. She has also been recognized as a peace ambassador by the World Peace Federation and the International Peace Federation. She is a TEDx speaker and author of the biography “I Am Tamana”, co-authored with her close friend Aditi Melotra.
