Shekar Goud – the Hero

Shekhar Goud belongs to the Yadadri district of Telangana and was the first triple amputee to climb Mount Elbrus. Trekking has always been his passion and he found that trekking gave him excitement, happiness and joy. In one of the interviews, he said that he paid more attention to trekking after becoming disabled.We are proud of you. It’s a fairly common belief that people with leg amputations should stay home. They can do nothing in life, but Shekar Goud changed the game with his feat. Shekar Goud strongly believes that you can achieve anything in life if you make decisions with confidence and act with passion. In his interview, he said he has many plans for the future and is working to make his dreams come true.

The Story Behind Being an Amputee

Shekar Goud was electrocuted and had his limbs amputated when he was just 18 years old. On December 24, 2006, it happened when one of his friends played a prank on him. He was sitting against a wall talking to a friend on the phone when he approached and pushed him away. He grabbed the wire to avoid hitting his head on the ground, which was a mistake as he got electrocuted. He was unconscious. He was in a hospital bed. He continued to stay in the village after the accident, but seeing his whole family crying made him weak, upset and angry.He then moved to Hyderabad and started living on his own. He completed his education up to the 10th grade and now earns his living at Pranaam Hospital.

Shekar’s Life after Becoming an Amputee

Shekhar’s right arm after the shoulder, the lower part of the right leg where the toes were, and the left leg after the knee were amputated. As he said earlier that he never gave up on his passion and his dreams. In December 2016, he was ready to cycle from Ladakh to Kanyakumari unaided for 48 days. This success prompted him to pursue other activities. He started swimming lessons, badminton and running marathons. These activities are part of the list of things that fascinate him.

Shekar Goud’s Success Story

He took trekking seriously and soon after starting trekking in India, he embarked on a long journey and made his first international trek to Everest Base Camp. Once there, he felt a surge of confidence in him, convinced that nothing was impossible in his life and that even with disabilities he could do anything. Shortly after, he reached Mount Elbrus in southern Russia, becoming the first Indian to undergo a triple amputation.
