Roman Saini is a name that is associated with resilience and determination. He is the co-founder of Unacademy, which is now considered as the largest learning platform in India. Roman Saini: From Medical Student to IAS Officer
He was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan in India. His mother was a stay-at-home mom, while his father worked for the government. Roman was a bright student from a young age and was highly motivated to pursue a career in medicine. He realized his dreams and secured a seat in one of the most prestigious medical colleges in India, the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science). However, his journey was not easy. Roman had to work hard and study diligently for several years to clear the entrance exams and secure a place at AIIMS.

During his medical studies, Roman developed a keen interest in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He was inspired by the work that the IAS officers were doing in the field of public service, and he decided to pursue it. Roman cleared the IAS exam with flying colors and was the youngest person to clear the exam at the age of just 22.
Roman Saini journey as an IAS officer was not easy either. He was posted in the town of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, where he saw how the lack of education was holding the people back. He was determined to do something about it, and so he started to teach underprivileged children for free. Roman soon realized that his teaching was having a significant impact on the lives of these children.
From YouTube Channel to Education Empire
In 2013, Roman Saini decided to quit his job as an IAS officer to pursue his passion for teaching. He went on to co-found Unacademy, a platform that provides high-quality education to students across the country. Unacademy started as a YouTube channel where Roman and his friends taught lessons on various topics. However, the channel soon gained popularity, and they decided to turn it into a full-fledged business.

The initial days of Unacademy were not easy. The team faced a lot of challenges in terms of funding and scaling up. However, Roman and his team did not give up. They continued to work hard and soon started to gain traction. Unacademy became one of the most popular educational platforms in India and has since raised funding from some of the most prominent investors in the country.
Today, Unacademy has more than 50,000 educators teaching on its platform and has over 50 million registered users.
