Captain Divya Ajith Kumar inspirational Story-
Captain Divya Ajit Kumar is no ordinary officer. She was the first female cadet to be awarded the coveted ‘Sword of Honor’ when she left her OTA Chennai as an officer in 2010. The Sword of Honor is awarded to the Academy’s top cadet (overall merit) in recognition of the cadet’s excellence in all aspects of training. Needless to say, winning this prestigious award is no easy task. However, until 2010, only the IMA/OTA Top Gentleman nominees received this honour. It was Captain Divya who set off a revolutionary tide in the Indian Army and changed the position of all future female officers. Captain Divya was born in Chennai, India to a Tamil family. She graduated from high school in the same city, after which she continued her studies at Stella Har Maris University in Chennai. Here she enlisted in the NCC (National Cadet Corps) and began wearing an olive green uniform. Divya had to organise her annual NCC intercollegiate festival at her university, her Cadostar, with the utmost precision and responsibility. Captain Divya was an early officer and began to stand out among the NCC college group. His dedication and hard work went unnoticed. The energetic young Ms. Divya was selected as the leader of the Indian delegation of the NCC Senior Division Women’s Wing at the 2008 Republic Day Parade. In fact, she holds the title of best female cadet in all of India and the title of best parade commander. Divya seems to have found her vocation. Divya had no defensive experience. She was the first in her family to apply for the rank of military officer. She bravely took up the task. After graduating from college in 2009, I took the CDS (Integrated Defense Services) exam and then the SSB exam. He joined OTA in the same year, but died in 2010. It was here that she received the Sword of Honor. Because he stood out among the 244 cadets in his group, 63 of whom were women. She was only 21 at the time. His accomplishments at such a young age are deeply inspiring, to say the least. Capt. Divya joined the Army Air Defense Corps (AAD) as an officer in September 2010. Five years later, he earned further honours when he was named the leader of the Indian Army’s first all-female unit at the 2015 Republic Day Parade. The cadets took part in the parade, with then-US President Barack Obama as the main guest. It’s clear that this eminent young officer hasn’t looked back. Captain Divya is a station wagon. She is a multi-talented and positive girl who is active in various sports such as basketball and discus throwing. She is also an accomplished bharatanatyam dancer and percussionist. We admire this talented person. She currently works as an instructor at the OTA in Chennai (also a desirable position) and believes she can motivate women to join the military and serve the nation. It shows how dedicated, humble and devoted she is to her duties as an officer and passionate towards improving the organisation. She continues to visit various schools and colleges to listen to girls and encourage them to choose a military career.
She says that:
“The situation is changing rapidly. The role and influence of women in the military is increasing, with more and more women joining the military each year. It now also performs combat support functions. Perhaps in 10 years we will reach the border… I want more young women, especially from Tamil Nadu, to join the Indian Army.
