The success story of Bhavish Aggarwal:How he built Ola into a Billion-Dollar Company-

Bhavish Aggarwal is an Indian entrepreneur and co-founder of Ola Cabs, India’s leading taxi company. Bhavish Aggarwal was born on August 28, 1985 and grew up with his parents Naresh Kumar Agarwal and Usha Agarwal in Ludhiana, Punjab. Bhavish graduated from Bombay Institute of Technology in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Immediately after graduating, he worked for two years at Microsoft in Bangalore. During this vacation, he applied for two patents and published three papers in international journals. Today, Bhavish owns the greenfield Ola Cabs, which is profitable in the Indian market. Ola’s idea was born while travelling from Bangalore to Bandipur and got stuck on the way. The taxi driver made the deal and threw it on the side of the road. There he realised the ubiquitous traveller’s dilemma. He knew there was a lot he could take advantage of and saw the potential for a taxi service that was unique in the country. To realise his dream as an entrepreneur, he started his business online and turned to Ola Taxi while planning vacations and tours.

History of Ola cabs-

Mr. Bhavish and his co-founder Mr. Ankit Bhatti launched his OLA on December 3, 2010. Mr. Ankit graduated from Bombay Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and he has a postgraduate degree in CAD and Automation. Until 2009 he worked with several other companies such as Wilcom, QED42. However, he soon realised that his professional life was nothing more than his intellect, so he quit his job and took a job at a start-up company. He joined OLA Taxi in November 2010 and held the position of Technical Manager at Ola. Any start is not easy, but it was rather due to family obstacles. Bhavish parents opposed his decision to quit his full-time job and become a travel agent. But then they were surprised to see the success of the Snapdeal founder’s first investors.

Gradually, Ola became the world’s first and largest platform that directly connects taxis and passengers with one click. The founders moved their headquarters from Bangalore to Mumbai and took it a step further by launching a one-touch travel booking app. But soon after the end of the year, Uber challenged them. But Ola survived.

Ola ensured a smooth and enjoyable ride for each customer. We also offer our customers the flexibility to choose the type of vehicle they want to travel with, depending on the number of travellers, budget and convenience. Shortly after the advent of cars, Ola expanded its business to rent cars, bicycles and even electric rickshaws based on customer convenience. In addition to this, Ola offers car rentals for out-of-town trips as low as 6 rupees per km.

Ola offers cashless rides using Ola Money, which can be easily topped up. Ola has always provided travellers with a comfortable and safe travel experience and has become a leading travel agency in India. Ola offers certified drivers, emergency alert buttons, and real-time ride tracking to ensure safe rides. Ola serves over 100 cities across India and over 7,000 travellers travel with Ola every day. The company has launched services in Australia. After working his way from a travel agency to a leading taxi company, Bhavish Aggarwal has joined the list of successful entrepreneurs whose dreams have inspired them. Bhavish and Ankit’s dedication to success is proof that anything is possible with the right amount of effort and focus. Mr. Bhavish also won the 2017 Entrepreneur of the Year award.

The biggest challenge the company still faces is securing a skilled workforce and experienced licensed drivers to ensure long-term success. Bhavish knew his idea sounded crazy, but he believed in himself and let his idea fly to reach the untouched. Bhavish and Ankit are today’s richest young men. Ola’s success story motivates anyone who wants to start their dream project and take it to the sky.
